Visionetics International responds to Arcom’s public consultation on the future of DTT
Arcom, the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, has launched a public consultation on the future of DTT (digital terrestrial television) and of the television medium. As an industrial player in the distribution and redistribution of the audiovisual signal, Visionetics International has chosen to contribute to it. Consultation here
Our response defends one conviction: terrestrial television remains an essential infrastructure — for national sovereignty, resilience in times of crisis, universal and free access to reliable information, and energy sobriety. Rather than a shift to exclusively IP-based distribution, we advocate modernisation towards a hybrid model combining broadcast and IP, notably through the DVB-I standard that we are trialling within the FAVN (French Digital Audiovisual Forum).
Our contribution addresses the full range of technical, industrial and strategic issues raised by this consultation, and is accompanied by two annexes: one on the comparative environmental footprint of reception modes, and the other introducing the DVB-I standard.
